Raising a Glass, Raising Cash!
Cheers to the Dog Park!
Lots of dog lovers stopped in to Peacemaker Brewing Company on Saturday, 10/6, to raise a glass and raise cash for Canandaigua Canine Campus. Special thanks to Peacemaker Brewing, Bo’s Bones and Lyons National Bank for donating fantastic theme baskets for our raffle. We surpassed our modest goal of $500 and raised $1,037 through donations, a portion of drinks sold and a tip jar. It was a fun, uplifting event and monies raised have now completed our new fundraising goal of $64,100.* Friends of CCC volunteers were on hand to answer questions and provide information about Canandaigua’s future dog park.
The one question we can’t answer is when the park will open. This rests squarely on the shoulders of city staff and council. This isn’t a location or funding issue—this is about the city making the park completion a priority.
At this point, we are not assured that the park will open in 2018. Does that bother you? Doggone right it should! Please send an email with your thoughts to our elected officials. Urge them to make the completion of the dog park a high priority. Here is a link to their contact information: https://www.
E-mail campaigns only work if a LOT of dog owners take the time to send one at ALL the council and mayor. Feel free to include Doug Finch, Canandaigua’s Town Manager: dfinch@townofcanandaigua.org in your message. The Town and City are now partners in this project though the pace of the construction (currently: dead stop) is set by the City. You may copy me in as well if you wish at canandaiguacaninecampus@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support and advocacy. We are now waiting (im)patiently for the opening of Canandaigua Canine Campus.
*Although we are done actively fundraising, the city will still accept dog park donations and put those monies to good use. If you have not made a gift, but planned to, I encourage you to do so.
All the best,
Nancy McCarthy
